American Institute called Bitcoin a fork of Bitcoin Cash

Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin Cash and then Bitcoin appeared as a result of its fork. This is stated in a report from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) specialists.

On 57 pages of the "Blockchain Technology Overview" report, it is said that the original blockchain was Bitcoin Cash, not Bitcoin, as it is commonly believed.

As a result of the hard fork, we got an equal amount of BTC and BCH coins.

It is likely that the report contains factual mistakes. Since everyone knows that on August 1 Bitcoin Cash separated from Bitcoin, not vice versa.

At the same time, the Institute incorrectly stated that the incompatibility of SegWit clients with the old software was triggered by the activation of BTC network via the SegWit protocol's hard fork. But in fact, SegWit was implemented using a soft fork, which allowed the protocol not to conflict with the old Bitcoin software.

The report will be available for public comments by February 23.
