Year suspended and fine. Sentencing of Federal Reserve Board employee for mining via bank servers

The former Federal Reserve Board employee was sentenced to 12 months' probation and fined $5,000 for using corporate servers for Bitcoin mining.

Such information was published on the website of the Office of Inspector General for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

The convicted person was a Communications Analyst at the Federal Reserve System. He has installed mining software on the server and set a remote access to the server from his home PC.

When such actions were discovered, the employee tried to cover up the tracks, but during the investigation had to confess and leave the office.

It is also reported that activity of the law breaker hasn’t led to the leak of any data.
