According to mass media, at least 36 000 computers were affected by a virus encrypting files stored in the computers.
The malware program demanding ransom in bitcoins appeared to be the most damaging mainly for Russia, Ukraine and Taiwan.
In particular, the virus known as WannaCry harmed the computer systems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the healthcare service of United Kingdom.
The program encrypts files changing their extension, demands bitcoins in exchange for a decoding system and threatens to delete the blocked information.
The screenshots made by users show that the amount of ransom equals 300 bitcoins.
