According to the official statement from Visa Europe, Bitcoin debit card services have been ceased, reports Сoindesk.
Visa Europe has terminated the partnership with WaveCrest payment system, customers of which include major Bitcoin companies such as Bitwala Cryptopay, Tenx, and Wirex.
That step will not affect other Visa card programs that offer to convert digital currencies in traditional assets.
Representatives of Visa explained they had to suspend the partnership because WaveCrest violated the operating rules.
Visa assures that the undertaken action should not be viewed as the toughening of its position towards cryptocurrencies.
However, Bitwala believes that the situation is connected with the fact that finance companies do not want to service the fast-growing crypto economy.
